This is a post reporting on my siter-in-laws experiences with her new(99) Savage and a 1500 mile road trip from Anchorage to Haines via Valdez. She said the bike ran flawlessly, we had managed to get 500 miles on it locally so she could have the first service done by the dealer here. She left here loaded with slant bags, a full size T-bag on the base plate for the passenger pillion. I installed the factory option windshield, engine guard, gel seat, and bag supports as they arrived and were provided by the dealer. She is still learning to ride and was averaging almost 60 MPG during the first 500 mi., that might have gone down alittle on the trip as she did get comfortable at highway speeds quickly. He husband and their son needed to stop sooner than she did for a butt break, they have HD's. She is another very happy LS650 owner and rider. They are off from Prince Rupert to the Calgary Stampeed in July with a return via Washing State and the up through the Canadian Islands to Rupert to catch the boat home. They camp and are having the time of their life.
